Christmas is almost upon us and I have been doing everything I can to get ready. This will be our first gluten free Christmas and I have been testing out my baking since November! We have certain traditions that I hope that I can keep going for my daughter and also for my sister who has Celiac.
One of those Traditions are my grandma’s cookies. I already have her Peanut Butter Blossoms done and gave some to my sister. Her pumpkin bread was done last month along with a Poppy seed bread. Normally she gives us at least a dz assorted cookies and a few loafs of speciality bread. While I am not able to do that much I hope to do some.
Today it is my Poppy Seed Bread and I will be giving a loaf to my sister to enjoy. For Christmas I will be making my first gluten free cinnamon roll (will post recipe). But then my whole family will be over for some Ham, Duck, scalloped potatoes, fruit salad and veggies. All easy to make gluten free. Of course there will be a gluten free peppermint cake that my other sister is making us (I will have to get that recipe for her).
I am enjoying making new traditions and also being able to keep some of the old. I am glad that we can keep the flavor and enjoy the things we love. At first I was worried about the holidays. But now I am finding it is easy to keep the traditions alive.
Tomorrow I will be doing Hanukkah with my in laws- the Christmas day with my family. I will be sure to post any recipes I do on Monday so that I can enjoy the weekend with my loved ones.
I pray that everyone has safe travels, and I hope you have a Merry Christmas and wonderful time with family.
