Chili Recipe

I have had people asking me how I make my Chili so I thought I would share it on here. This really isn’t an exact measurements kind of recipe because it will depend on you prefer taste wise. But here is the basic ingredients I use. I made this in my NESCO 4 in 1 Pressure Cooker on the slow cook seating for 2 hrs and it turned out great (oh and I browned the pork using the brown setting).

What you need:

1lb ground pork either mild or hot
1lg can of tomato sauce
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 can of dark red kidney beans
chili powder
garlic powder
ground cumin
red pepper flakes (crushed red pepper)
1/8 cup (so very sm amt) brown sugar *optional*

Start by browning your ground pork.

In a pot on the stove or in your crock pot combine the first 4 ingredients. Let warm up for about 30 minutes to an hour.

Add in chili powder (to taste), 1 tbsp (a dash or two) of garlic powder, 1 tbsp ground cumin, and 1-2 tsp crushed red pepper and 1/8 cup of brown sugar (this gives a little sweet to the spicy). Mix well and let cook. Add as much or little seasonings as you want.

If I have it on hand I will use half an onion and 1 grn pepper, dice them and place them in there as well.

Of course if you are in a rush you can just brown the sausage, then mix everything in a pot (seasonings as well) and cook on high until heated through and serve. I like having it cook slowly. I find it doesn’t cook off as much of the flavors and allows them to mix more.

This is really just your basic chili recipe and is easy to make. It is what my family enjoys. I hope yours will too!
