30 Day Plank Challenge Week 1


Whew! The above picture shows how I feel right about now! One thing I am really starting to crack down on is my health. I have hypertension and I hate taking medicine. Absolutely hate it. So I started using lavender oil and that has helped to bring it down. But I want to go one step further- and start exercising and eating better than what I already do (in other words not eat as many sweets!).

I had a friend share a post on Facebook. It was a 30 day Plank challenge. You start out doing the plank for a few seconds and and as the 30 days goes on you are suppose to hold it for longer and longer. I thought- Piece of cake! I mean really, how hard can it be to hold your self in a push up position for 20 seconds? I think I will go hide now.



Oh my goodness it was a lot harder than I anticipated! Wow did I hurt the first day! The 3rd day was easier and my confidence was building. Then I on day 4 I had to raise my time to 30 seconds. Come on! I was just getting used to it! But I did it…… barely. I was about to through in the towel that day because well- I wasn’t feeling good. I had a headache, my neck hurt, I was exhausted. I was sure I was coming down with whatever virus is going around school. But I did it anyway. Last night (day 5) was a bit easier. Day 6 we are suppose to rest- but I did it any way just to keep it up.

But what good is it to do this and still eat sweets. So I started keeping a food log to keep track. Yesterday (day 5) I started drinking more water. Let me put it this way on me and drinking water. My son walked into my classroom- looked at my daughter and goes “MOM IS DRINKING WATER!!!!” No joke. My kids were shocked.

So now that we are at the end of the week. I am going to challenge myself more. On Monday I will start a cardio routine along with my planks. I hope I can keep on my track of not eating sweets as much as I used to and drinking water. If you are interested in joining in on the 30 day Plank challenge here is the chart for the days:

      They are harder! I thought it would be a cake walk type exercise. A good easy one to start with- yeah I have zero upper body strength so it is hard!
