Reptile Gardens. Man I remember that place. I went when I was a kid so probably late 80’s and again in the 90’s. I know I totally just aged myself. But I remember it was a fun time. I remember riding on a giant tortoise, the pretty flowers, the reptiles. So when we found out we were going to South Dakota I just knew I had to take my kids.
Oh and how it did not disappoint. I loved seeing all the different flowers and birds in the botanical garden area.
My daughter loved seeing all the tropical birds and the beautiful flowers! I loved the vibrant colors of them. There was just one thing though- this guy:
He was literally just hanging out. No glass, no cage nothing. I just looked up and saw him. Obviously he is a harmless ones but snakes are just…. yuck! I walked quickly under him lol.
We also were able to learn about some Alligators and Crocodiles. That was really interesting to watch. Little Man thought it would be fun to try to sit on one like the guy did. One of my favorite parts was when he brought out “Fluffy” and the kids got to pet it!
They also had a program that talked about Birds. This was Little Miss’ favorite part. She is my bird girl and has always loved them. She was so excited she was asked to come up and help with a demonstration. She was loving it!
Over all we had fun at Reptile Gardens! It was a great place to learn and just enjoy some fun time. There really was something for everyone. My kids were kind of bummed they could not pet the Giant Tortoises but they quickly got over that. They were able to touch a snake and “Fluffy” of course.
If you are heading to South Dakota I highly recommend stopping by and spending time there. It is just south of Rapid City!
Check out their website to learn more about it!
~ I received complimentary passes in order for our family to visit Reptile Gardens. Regardless the above thoughts are my own and honest opinions! ~
Looks like a fun place to be. However, I would leave that to my boys. I am absolutely terrified of reptiles!
You should hear me run and scream for things like snakes and lizards. 🙂 my kids laugh at me.
wow, this place looks amazing. I can’t believe the let you pet a crocodile… I’d love that.
That looks like a great place. My kids would love it, they are big reptile fans.
It sounds like a pretty awesome place for kids especially if you want them to learn more about animals. I’m sure it was a lot of fun!
The little girl is brave! She was able to touch the baby crocodile!
Omg what beautiful photos!!!! I would
Love to explore this place one day!!!
Nice place but I am a little bit afraid of reptiles. We have a similar place in my father’s hometown.
I love zoos and places like this! I love to learn about animals and all their funny quirks. I also love to pet them and enjoy them. This sounds like a lot of fun!
This looks like a place my kids would love! The snake would have freaked me out too!
I’m not a fan of reptiles that much, but I love seeing all of the bright colors of tropical birds. They are fascinating to watch. We went to an alligator farm once during a trip. They had snakes and fed a mouse to one of them. I wasn’t the same ever since.
Looks like a great experience. Love the pictures! I would have passed on the snake bit, though, lol. Reminds me of that scene from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Looks like such a cool place to visit. If I were in the area, I would defintely check this place out.
