Like millions of other’s across the nation, even world. My kids have been home since March 12th (I know some were out long before that- bless the parents out there). This week has been the most trying of them all though.
You get to a point where you are just done. You’re mentally exhausted, you are tired, you are stressed. School is going wrong and you contemplating buying your children’s teachers a year subscription to Wine of the Month as you pity them and want to thank them for enduring your children’s shenanigans.
Ok maybe that is just me because well my son is the class clown- involved in drama and very much a people person and as his shenanigans grow- my appreciation for his teachers grow.
But in all seriousness- Mamas and to the dads- YOU ARE NOT ALONE! We are all there. Even my “It’s called social distancing” Miss Sassy hit her “IVE BEEN STUCK IN THE HOUSE FOR A MONTH” breaking point. We are burnt out and weary and that is OK.
I was reminded of that during today’s devotional (Cuffs & Coffee by Allison P Uribe for you fellow LEOW’s out there). That we will (and have on several occassions), reach a point of just needing a break. Needing to just sit. No words necessary, no sounds, just a moment to breathe. And while yes- we may feel the need to have a physical body there to lend us that support, we do have to remember we have God as well. Allowing him to rest and refresh us daily will help us through this time. It is totally ok to hide in the bath tub with a glass of wine and some chocolates, but don’t forget to also hide with His Word. One of my favorite vs as of late is from Isaiah 40. It really goes from 40:28-31 but vs 29 (the italicized text) stood out to me today thanks to my devotional.
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? Yahweh is the everlasting God, the creator of the whole earth. He never grows faint or weary; there is no limit to His understanding. He gives strength to the weary and strengthens the powerless. Youths may faint and grow weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”
Let that marinate a bit- there is NO LIMIT to Him. He will give us the strength we need to get through this. We may be weary but if we trust in HIM he will renew our strength.
I don’t know about you but I needed to hear that today. Like I said it has been a trying week for us with school, being cooped up, going from working days to having to work nights. I hope that gives you the uplifting encouragement that you need today. And remember- God’s got this- So you have this!
