Sleeping in with Super 8 #VisitNP #Roadtrip

Ok so maybe we didn’t sleep in. The kids wish we could have let them sleep longer but the Popo wanted to go to Dunkin Donuts since we do not have one near us.

While on our trip we had the pleasure of staying at a Super 8 in North Platte. This hotel was easy to access from the interstate was close to all the attractions so it was a good spot to stay! Check in was quick and easy and the people there were friendly. The lobby was nice and clean and very welcoming as well. Once we checked in we went straight to the rodeo before going to our room. It was shortly after 10 by the time we finally saw our room. It was a non smoking with two beds- however they were just full size so mental note for myself- make sure to get a room with queen size! The popo and I had an interesting time sharing a full size bed when we are used to a king size.

Kansas City Here We Come!

Well it is official! We are heading to Kansas City in May! My kids are really excited! One of the tasks though was finding a place to stay. Which trust me, in Kansas City there are a ton of choices. But we wanted to make this trip fun and memorable even if it is just a 3 hour drive for us!
So after searching and checking out the options we have decided to stay at Great Wolf Lodge! One reason we opted to stay there is because of their Water Park of course!
They have a wide range of rooms from themed to just a standard suite. We will be staying in the Family Suite which has 2 queen beds and a semi private living area with a full size pull out sofa! Last time we stayed in a hotel our kids had to share a bed and that was a nightmare, so this will be really nice to be able to put them in their own beds!
The best part about Great Wolf is their restaurant. They had a thing about how they can meet dietary needs so I was curious about the Gluten Free diet. Their executive chef was quick to reply with a listing of Gluten Free options from cereal to pancakes to chicken fingers and even hamburger/hot dog buns! He even sent me an allergen listing to help me sort out what they have and don’t have. I can not wait to see what they have in store!
Stay tuned because I will be writing a full review of this Resort as soon as we return! If you are interested in learning more check out their website for some great deals!  Right now they have a deal where you can save 15% when you stay 2 or more nights so hurry and check out the full details on their site!
~I am receiving a room at discounted price in exchange for writing about this hotel. No other form of compensation was exchanged. Regardless the above thoughts are my own and honest opinions.~

One bad thing about being a Law Enforcement Family is that with a trip we couldn’t really “book” anything. At first our trip was a go, then it got put on hold for a pending court case, and then 2.5 weeks before we needed to leave the court case was plead out. Then there was the not knowing when we would leave because  who knows if hubby would be home late because of a drunk or an accident. So for on the drive out to Virginia Beach we just kind of winged it.

We finally stopped in Louisville KY. Pretty much all hotels were full by the time we got there (midnight) except for the ones that cost $150. But then we found Red Roof Inn. The person there was very nice and helpful and got us into a room for a discounted price (since hubby was LE). We stayed at the Red Roof Inn Louisville East-HurstBourne Property and was able to get into a double queen non smoking room.

The rooms here were recently updated and were really nice and cozy. They have free WiFi, if you have your pet with you they stay for free, Kids under 17 stay for free, free coffee in the lobby and with in walking distance to some restaurants! I must say for the cost, this was one of the better hotels I have stayed in! I wish they had some in Nebraska!

The only other time we needed a hotel was on our way home the following week. We enjoyed this hotel so much that we found another one in Columbus, OH (our half way point again). This time we called ahead and reserved a room. The lady I talked to was very nice and helpful as well (again received a discount for the Law Enforcement), this time our total was $58. We could not wait to get there, mainly because well- 5 days with out a shower from camping was just a little gross and we couldn’t wait to shower! Again we were not disappointed!

While these rooms were not updated as of yet they were still nice! The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. This hotel was also close to numerous restaurants which made finding a place for breakfast easy!

I was really impressed with both locations. I must say if we travel again any time soon we will be looking for this chain! We budgeted $200 for a hotel and thanks to Red Roof only spent half of our budget! This helped a lot! Be sure to check them out for your next trip! You can find them on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ (they also have giveaways once in awhile!)

~This is not a sponsored post. I was not compensated for this in any way. I simply enjoyed my stay at their chain and wanted to share how pleased I was with you guys!~
