Sunrise at The Pines Resort and Campground in Deer River MN
It has been such a crazy year! I went back to working part time- It works out great because I don’t have to make a gazillion trips into town. Still doing my hustle of chocolate with The Cocoa Exchange and that is going good. Now the goal of getting back into blogging.
There is one thing this year that is major. The Popo and I celebrated 15 years! I have been told we are not normal but I am ok with that. We celebrated our 15 years at a resort a friend bought off of Lake Winnibigoshish in Minnesota.
Welcome back! It has been a crazy busy week here. We are getting ready for popcorn sales for Little Man’s cub scouts, plus a camping trip a week away. I have a vendor show for my Dove Chocolate Discoveries business on Saturday and Little Miss is home sick today. Never a dull moment in our house!
This week went a little better on the exercise- I think the field trip we went on last Friday helped out a lot. I probably walked about 2 miles that day before it rained. I do not have a step tracker so I am just guestimating. I also used the elliptical a bit more this week. I did find some work out sessions on Amazon Prime so this week I plan on trying those starting tonight!
The food wise is another topic. I ate like crap. Which is why today’s picture is me telling my stomach to shut up! So Friday- I had some time to kill before I went to the school for the field trip. Clearly that meant I needed a bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich from McD’s with a medium Caramel Frappe. My son made our lunch which was PB&J, some apples and some Chips. I was still hungry so while I waited for them I got a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a Dr. Pepper from Runza. Yep- totally need those carbs! HA! Really the rest of the week wasn’t to terrible for Breakfast I would mostly just have toast if anything, I did have a bowl of cheerios with banana in it. Lunch was left overs as usual- except for Monday- I was out and about so I stopped at Sonic for a chicken sandwich, tater tots and a Lg Cherry Limeade. (again killed my diet). I did have a healthy meal plan worked out and grocery shopping done. But my kids probably threw it away because I can’t find it! So here was our dinners for the week-
Sunday- Left Overs
Monday- Chicken fingers and baked beans
Tuesday- Biscuits and Gravy (it was in the 50’s and drizzling so perfect comfort food)
Wednesday- Pizza (it was just my son and I since Little Miss is sick)
Today I think we will have grilled cheese and tomato soup (another chilly dreary day so more comfort food).
Even though I did not eat the greatest I am down to 188 lbs! So I did lose a pound! This week I am going to focus on continuing the exercise and trying to motivate myself- but also eating better. I noticed I snack a lot when we are running around everywhere and when I am stressed (I broke open a bag of PURE DARK Peppermint Rounds last night). So need to work on that or find healthier options for snacking since my stomach thinks I need to eat when bored.
So topic question of the week: Are you a snacker when you are bored or stressed? What are some of the things you do instead of snacking or what are some of your favorite healthy snacks?

This week was hard. Seriously last week, I was determined. I need to start on my healthier me aspect. I need to focus on me. I know that sounds selfish and yes all these sentences are starting with “I”…….. Every now and then it is ok to focus on YOU though and that is what I am trying to do.
The exercising did not happen as much as one would like. I got on the elliptical once. Did some sit ups this week and tomorrow I get to go on a field trip with my son on a day long nature/science hike. I wish I had a step tracker to see how far I walk tomorrow. I have seriously got to find some motivation this week for that aspect of things.

Yep. There. That is right there is where I want to be. I would be in the pool though (I have a fear of open water). School has started and so has the chaos. So escaping to a place like that would be heavenly right about now.
So it has been a while since I have done a random post. My kids started a new school this month. We were having way to many issues at their other school so we had to transfer them. They are loving it though. They have made new friends and have told us they are glad for the change. But with school- comes scouts, piano lessons, and then some. Let the games BEGIN!
Also with that change in school came a change of jobs for me. I sadly had to resign as the special education para. It was really hard for me to do. I cried! But I will have the opportunity to sub for them so I wont miss out completely. Instead I am going to focus on blogging and my Dove Chocolate Discoveries business and my photography! I already have a fun Gift Guide lined up for you for the holidays so I am excited for that.
I am really excited! So awhile back I announced that I had joined Dove Chocolate Discoveries and even shared a Stir Fry Recipe featuring one of their products. Well today I want to introduce you to one of our new products released just this past month: White Chocolate Raspberry Honey Mustard!
Ok no crinkling your nose yet, trust me. So This White Chocolate Raspberry Honey Mustard is a mouthful. But oh is it worth it. Even if you don’t like chocolate (yes I have actually had people say that) or maybe it is the raspberry thought making that nose crinkle. The thing I like about this dipping sauce is- It really isn’t an over bearing taste of either one! I am on the not big on Raspberry side of things and seriously the taste is so subtle. My husband on the other hand is 100% abnormal and isn’t big on chocolate- he LOVES this dipping sauce.
So today I was thinking as I was getting ready for my daughter’s birthday that gone are the days where people actually follow the RSVP etiquette.
First- what does RSVP even mean? Well it is French for “répondez, s’il vous plaît,” which means “please respond”. It is common on wedding invites, birthday invites, dinner party invites. It is just the way the host knows what to plan on. How many people do they need to feed and accommodate for.
I remember as a kid my mom would always call up the other mom and politely let them know if we were attending the function we received an invite for or not. But since having kids of my own I have noticed one thing:
Yep- The RSVP has died. The past few years for birthday’s I have filled out invitations. I have provide both my cell phone number and an email address to make the rsvp process convenient for those we have invited. However each party I only hear from a few. For example last year for my daughter’s birthday we heard from 2 people prior to the party- 1 person the day of the party and about 5 minutes after it started stating they were on their way, while everyone else just showed up. My son’s birthday was similar, a few notified me ahead of time that they were coming, a few informed me that they were not, but most just showed up. That brings me to this party for my daughter. I have heard from 3 friends, out of 16. But I am pretty sure more then that will show up. But it makes it hard to plan. Do I plan for all and have a lot of left over cake or do I plan for the few. It is so frustrating! What ever happened to a quick- hey we will be there? I have called on every single invite my kids have received. It is the polite thing to do.
So if the RSVP has died why do we bother still putting it on birthday invites? But the bigger question is- what are we teaching our children? What sort of etiquette are we displaying to them? I may be old fashioned as a 32 year old but I am ok with that.
So I am curious to know- am I the only one who has noticed that the RSVP died? Do you still call/text/or email when you receive an invite?
